Turkey Burgers

Turkey_burgerFrom the Nutrition Twins: These lean burgers are delicious and healthy! So serve ‘em up on Memorial Day weekend and year round!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey breast
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 3 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tablespoons minced red bell pepper
  • 1 tablespoon minced green pepper
  • 1-1/4 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon cold water
  • 2 teaspoons grated peeled fresh ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Cooking spray
  • 4 (1 1/2-ounce) whole grain hamburger buns

Directions:

1) Mix all ingredients (excluding cooking spray and whole grain buns) in a large bowl.

2) Divide turkey mixture into 4 equal portions, making each into a 3/4-inch-thick patty.

3) Spray a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray and heat on medium-high heat until hot.

4) Add patties; cook 5 minutes on each side or until done.

5) Serve on buns with a side of steamed spinach.

4 servings: Each burger with bun: 327 calories, 27 grams protein, 31 grams carbohydrates, 9 grams fat, 2 grams saturated fat, 850 mg sodium, 4 grams fiber.
